Services available at the Town Clerk's Office:
Pay Propery Taxes - They are due 4 times a year, Sept. 1, Dec. 1, March 1 and June 1 and cover the period of July 1 - June 30th.
Dog Licenses - Due by April 1st of each year ($7 for neutered/spayed dog; $11 non-neutered/spayed dog).
Marriage Licenses & Civil Union License - At least one party must a be a resident of the town or both parties
must be from out-of-state with the ceremony to be performed in Addison County.
Blood tests are not required. License fee is $45.00 plus $10.00 if you would like a certified copy. There is no waiting period to use the license but it must be used within 60 days of issuance.
Green Mountain Passports - Green Mountain Passports are available to residents 62 or over and to those considered disabled by the
Vermont Veterans Administration. The $2 lifetime passport is valid immediately; holders are eligible for free admission to
state parks and museum as well as reduced prices by private businesses.
Hunting & Fishing Licenses - Licenses are available for Vermont and out-of-state residents. All hunters are required to have a license; proof of a prior license or hunter safety card is required for all hunting or archery licenses.
Residents 15 years or older are also required to have a fishing license.
Research Land Records - Deeds, mortgages, liens, etc. are on file at Town Clerk's office. Copies may be obtained at $1.00 per page.
There is $8.00 filing fee per page to record documents in the land records.
Motor Vehicle Registration Renewal - You can renew registrations for cars, trucks, boats, trailers, etc. Bring your renewal notice and a check written to the Department of Motor Vehicles for the amount of your renewal.
There is a $3 fee payable to the Town Clerk for this service.
Voter Checklist Application -You must be a resident of the town and at
least 18 years of age to become a registered voter.
Copies of Vital Records - Photocopies or certified copies of birth, death, and marriage records on file are available. Photocopies are $1.00 each and $10.00 each for certified records.
Genealogy searches are welcome and will be performed by the researcher.
